Find me on:

We hope your summer has brought a mix of adventure, meaningful time with family and friends, and opportunities for professional growth.  And dare I say we hope you’ve had a minute to unplug and read some great books or watch some new shows?  For members of the Rpharmy team—John, Caroline, and I—it’s been all of the above. We recently traveled to Romania for an exciting first: meeting our talented team of product developers and business analysts in person.

Map of Bucharest

The Rpharmy team traveled across Romania, taking in sites before meeting with the extended product development team in Cluj.

First Stop: Bucharest

Before work, there was a little bit of play as Rpharmy spent several days in Bucharest, where we visited the opulent Palace of Parliament. Fun fact: at 3.9 million sq. ft., it is the second-largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon.  My personal favorite stop was the Romanian Athenaeum, which serves as a concert hall.  When we visited, we had the opportunity to hear some pianists rehearsing!

Into the Heart of Transylvania

We then headed to the countryside of Transylvania, where we visited several fortified churches and small villages.  We also visited the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler in Sighișoara, but the closest we got to seeing a vampire was all of the Dracula memorabilia sold in the gift shop next door.  Our final stop before making our way to Cluj was the fairy tale-esque Peles Castle, the former summer residence of the Romanian royal family.

The countryside of Romania’s Transylvania region is home to many stunning churches and, of course, castles like the Bran Castle, of Dracula fame.

The Peles Castle was stunning! No wonder it has served as the fairy-tale backdrop for several movies.

Finally—Face-to-Face in Cluj

The trip wrapped up with a memorable two-day visit to Cluj, where the Rpharmy team gathered with our extended Romanian colleagues for a celebratory dinner. For the past five years, this talented group of product developers and business analysts has been instrumental in supporting Rpharmy’s mission, contributing to the success of Rhazdrugs, Formweb, and BlackboxRX. In addition to building and refining our products, they also provide essential support for the Rpharmy website.

We shared a delicious meal with them at a restaurant with a gorgeous view overlooking all of Cluj.  It was the perfect way to connect outside of just a face on a screen.  And naturally, we couldn’t leave without showering them with Rpharmy swag!

Wrapping It Up and Heading Home

This trip checked all my favorite boxes: new sights, meaningful conversations, and a deeper connection with the people who make Rpharmy’s mission possible.
